Situational Awareness Invests $400 Million Days After Hedge Fund Nearly Collapses

July, [current year]

Tuesday

Situational Awareness, the hedge fund founded by former OpenAI researcher Leopold Aschenbrenner, has reportedly invested another $400 million in an undisclosed company days after it nearly collapsed due to margin calls resulting from a July AI stock crash. The fund had already invested $100 million in July into an unnamed company, completing a total of $200 million ($100 million twice) since then.

During the July AI stock crash, assets at Situational Awareness fell about 78%. Following these events, the fund sought fresh capital and considered selling stakes in private companies to repay lenders. The most recent investment on Tuesday further indicates that the hedge fund is looking to bolster its financial position despite the previous near-collapse.
