Blockchain.com Secures Cayman Islands VASP License

On July 22, 2026, Blockchain.com announced that it had obtained a virtual asset service provider (VASP) license from the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (CIMA), allowing it to provide regulated crypto custody services in the region. The move follows a conditional approval issued by CIMA in December 2025.

Lane Kasselman, co-CEO of Blockchain.com, emphasized that these approvals underscore the company’s commitment to serving customers across the region while maintaining high standards of regulation and security for digital assets. The license permits regulated crypto custody services, as well as exchange operations such as trading between cryptocurrencies (crypto-to-crypto) and converting into or from fiat currencies.

CIMA has also endorsed Cointelegraph’s report on the development, highlighting it as a positive step forward in establishing responsible practices within the burgeoning virtual asset space.
