Bank Leumi to Offer Bitcoin Trading Through Partnership with Galaxy Digital

Israel’s Bank Leumi plans to reintroduce cryptocurrency trading, this time through a partnership with digital asset specialist Galaxy Digital, targeting roughly 2.5 million retail customers from early 2027.

The move comes after Bank Leumi and its mobile banking arm, PEPPER, previously attempted crypto trading services in 2022 but were blocked by regulatory hurdles. Changes to Israeli cryptocurrency regulations have since made such initiatives more feasible under certain conditions.

Approval from the Bank of Israel is required for this initiative to proceed, with market capitalization thresholds and other regulatory stipulations potentially affecting its implementation.
