US Bitcoin ETFs See Record $517.2M Inflows on Wednesday

US spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) recorded $517.2 million in net inflows on Wednesday, their largest single-day investment since May 4. The inflows, which pushed August net inflows to $1.47 billion, coincided with a 11% rise in Bitcoin’s price to near $72,000 and a 19% increase in ether to $2,286. Spot ether ETFs also saw $189.2 million in net inflows on the same day.

The surge followed a decision by the US Treasury to expand buybacks of longer-dated debt, alongside renewed focus on crypto regulation after President Donald Trump’s advocacy for the CLARITY Act. The week ended Jan. 16 had previously seen the strongest weekly net inflow of $1.42 billion.

A further $1 billion in inflows since Monday has bolstered investor confidence, according to market analysis. Jonatan Randin, a senior market analyst at PrimeXBT, noted that Bitcoin’s price movement mirrored that of gold and silver, reflecting broader trends in asset allocation. “This is what the debasement trade looks like when it’s working,” he said.

The inflows mark a continuation of growing institutional interest in crypto assets, despite ongoing regulatory scrutiny. Ether ETFs recorded $291.5 million in weekly inflows, highlighting expanding demand across major cryptocurrencies.
