SEC Cancels Crypto Rules Meeting After Senate Recess

The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) canceled an open meeting scheduled for Friday regarding new cryptocurrency rules due to a “scheduling issue” after the Senate left for its August recess without voting on the CLARITY Act, which would provide a comprehensive framework for financial regulators overseeing the crypto industry.

The proposed “tailored offering regime,” aimed at covering investment contracts involving crypto assets, was set to be discussed. The meeting’s cancellation follows the Senate’s departure from Washington, with no vote taken on the CLARITY Act.
