In draft rules, Russia’s central bank has allowed retail investors to trade three cryptocurrencies—Bitcoin (BTC) at $63,878.12 per unit, Ethereum (ETH) at $1,896.33 per unit, and Tether’s USDT (a dollar-linked stablecoin)—on regulated exchanges.
Non-qualified investors are capped at 300,000 rubles ($3,600) in crypto purchases per year per intermediary, while qualified investors aren’t limited by this cap.
The regulations have drawn scrutiny for potentially limiting market liquidity and influencing investor behavior.
