Morning Briefing: Shiba Inu leads as 2 of the top 10 cryptocurrencies advance

A summary of the cryptocurrency market based on Blockchain Bugle’s scheduled market snapshots.

Market Open: Shiba Inu gains as Cardano falls sharply

Bitcoin edged higher by 0.07% to $69,558.84, maintaining its position as the largest cryptocurrency by market capitalisation, which stood at $1.396 trillion. Ethereum, however, declined 0.81% to $2,250.09, marking its largest drop among major assets. Shiba Inu, a smaller-cap token, rose 0.54% to $0.00, while Cardano fell 3.22% to $0.18, its most significant decline.

The contrast between Shiba Inu’s modest gain and Cardano’s sharp drop underscored divergent trends within the market. Shiba Inu’s movement, though limited in scale, highlighted continued trading activity in lower-cap assets, with a 24-hour volume of $110.4 million. Cardano’s decline, meanwhile, extended its underperformance, with its market capitalisation falling to $6.72 billion.

Ethereum’s decline added to broader weakness in altcoins, with XRP, BNB, and Solana all posting losses. XRP fell 2.25% to $1.11, while BNB dropped 1.15% to $626.22. Solana declined 0.92% to $85.32. Dogecoin also fell 1.17% to $0.07, though its market capitalisation remained stable at $12.83 billion.

The most pronounced volatility was seen in Cardano, which fell 3.22% despite a relatively modest 24-hour trading volume of $529.3 million. The token’s decline followed a period of consolidation, with no immediate indicators of broader market influence.

Bitcoin’s minimal gain reflected a lack of directional momentum, with its 24-hour trading volume at $54.06 billion. Ethereum’s performance, in contrast, suggested continued pressure on altcoins, though its decline was less severe than that of smaller-cap assets.

The market’s mixed performance highlighted uneven dynamics, with gains in niche tokens offset by broader declines in major assets. No immediate catalysts for the movements were evident, with trading activity remaining consistent across most assets.
