Market Close: Bitcoin rockets 10.0% as the crypto market surges, with XRP standing out among major movers

The Blockchain Bugle Market Briefing brought to you by Red Fox Capital takes a look at today’s trading session, as Bitcoin surges strongly, and with XRP leading the session amid a broadly positive session.

Market Close: XRP surges 8.2% as Bitcoin advances

Bitcoin and XRP led gains in cryptocurrency markets, with the latter recording its largest single-day rise in recent weeks. Bitcoin rose 2.53% to $71,320.49, while XRP jumped 8.18% to $1.20, driven by renewed institutional interest in altcoins. Ethereum posted a modest 0.61% increase to $2,263.83, though its performance lagged behind broader market momentum. Dogecoin and Cardano also saw notable gains, rising 2.96% and 4.66% respectively, though their market capitalisations remain far below the major assets.

The surge in XRP, which traded at a 12-month high, contrasted with Ethereum’s muted response, highlighting divergent dynamics across the sector. Bitcoin’s market capitalisation expanded to $1.43 trillion, reflecting sustained demand despite a lack of major macroeconomic catalysts. Trading volumes for XRP and Dogecoin rose sharply, though both remained below the levels seen for Bitcoin and Ethereum. Solana and BNB added 1.35% and 2.04% respectively, contributing to a broadly positive trend across the top 10 assets by market value.

Chainlink and TRON posted smaller gains of 0.95% and 1.47%, while Shiba Inu edged up 1.43%. The absence of any coins declining during the reporting period underscored a resilient market, though analysts caution that short-term volatility remains a risk. No major regulatory developments or protocol upgrades were reported, leaving technical factors as the primary drivers of price movements.
