MARA Holdings Pledges 18,750 BTC for $600 million Loans

Institutional demand for bitcoin-backed loans is increasing as lenders like Coinbase Credit and Two Prime Lending are offering larger collateral amounts and more flexible terms. MARA Holdings provided one such example by securing $600 million through two term loans using approximately 53% of its bitcoin holdings.

Approximately $1.2 billion in collateral value for the $600 million loans was provided by MARA Holdings, with approximately 18,750 BTC used as collateral. The collateral represented about 53% of MARA Holdings’ bitcoin holdings at the time. Specific terms such as interest rates and repayment periods were not specified.

The move highlights how institutions are incorporating cryptocurrencies into their financing strategies, a trend that reflects growing acceptance among financial institutions for digital assets as a form of collateral.
