Bitcoin Analyst Predicts $100,000 Target as Treasury Expands Bond Buybacks

A Standard Chartered analyst has forecast Bitcoin could rise to $100,000 by year-end 2026, citing the U.S. Treasury’s expansion of liquidity-support buybacks for long-dated government bonds. The move, which began on 9 September and runs until 4 November, aims to ease financial market pressures and may indirectly benefit Bitcoin, according to Geoff Kendrick.

Bitcoin surged 6% to nearly $69,000 in late morning U.S. trading, breaching a key technical level of $65,500. The Treasury’s buyback programme now allows $4 billion per operation for 10–20-year and 20–30-year bonds, a significant increase from previous limits.

Kendrick, a Standard Chartered analyst, said investors should position for a move to $100,000 by 2026, describing the Treasury’s announcement as “exactly the type of thing Bitcoin loves.” The prediction hinges on sustained market stability and continued institutional adoption of the cryptocurrency.

The buyback programme, part of broader efforts to stabilise long-term bond markets, has drawn attention from financial analysts monitoring its impact on risk assets. Bitcoin’s performance remains closely tied to macroeconomic policies and liquidity conditions, according to market observers.
