The Blockchain Bugle Market Briefing brought to you by Red Fox Capital takes a look at today’s trading session, as Bitcoin surges strongly, and with XRP leading the session amid a broadly positive session.
Market Close: XRP surges as Bitcoin and Ethereum advance
XRP rose sharply amid broader gains across major cryptocurrencies, with Bitcoin and Ethereum also posting modest increases.
Bitcoin closed the reporting period up 2.53%, trading at $71,320.49, while Ethereum rose 0.61% to $2,263.83. XRP, however, outperformed peers with an 8.18% jump to $1.20, marking its largest single-day gain in recent months. The asset’s surge contrasted with Ethereum’s relatively subdued movement, reflecting divergent dynamics among leading tokens.
Dogecoin and Cardano also recorded notable gains, with Dogecoin rising 2.96% to $0.08 and Cardano advancing 4.66% to $0.19. These moves added to the momentum seen in smaller-cap assets, though their impact on overall market capitalisation remained limited compared to Bitcoin and Ethereum.
Bitcoin’s market capitalisation reached $1.43 trillion, maintaining its dominance as the largest cryptocurrency by value. Ethereum’s market cap stood at $273.2 billion, reflecting its continued role as the second-largest asset by volume. XRP’s market capitalisation rose to $74.99 billion, driven by its sharp price increase.
Trading volumes across major assets showed mixed patterns, with Bitcoin and Ethereum recording the highest 24-hour volumes at $69.8 billion and $40.7 billion respectively. XRP’s volume, at $5.05 billion, lagged significantly behind but aligned with its recent volatility.
The market’s performance underscored continued differentiation among key assets, with XRP’s rally standing out as the most pronounced movement of the period. No other major cryptocurrency recorded a decline, though Ethereum’s modest gain highlighted its relative stability compared to more volatile counterparts.
