Market Close: XRP surges 8.2% as Bitcoin advances 2.5%

XRP rose 8.18% to $1.20, the largest single-movement gain among major cryptocurrencies, while Bitcoin added 2.53% to $71,320.49. Ethereum recorded a modest 0.61% increase to $2,263.83, marking its smallest gain of the period.

XRP’s sharp rise outpaced broader market trends, with its price climbing from $1.11 to $1.20 during the reporting period. The asset’s market capitalisation reached $74.99 billion, reflecting heightened activity in its 24-hour trading volume, which rose to $5.05 billion. Bitcoin’s performance aligned with a general upward trend, though its gains were more moderate compared to XRP’s surge.

Ethereum’s narrow advance contrasted with its peers, as its price movement lagged behind other major assets. The asset’s market capitalisation increased to $273.2 billion, with a 24-hour trading volume of $40.7 billion. Meanwhile, Dogecoin rose 2.96% to $0.08, and Cardano gained 4.66% to $0.19, both contributing to a broader rally across the sector.

BNB and Solana also advanced, with BNB rising 2.04% to $639 and Solana gaining 1.35% to $86.47. TRON and Chainlink added smaller gains of 1.47% and 0.95%, respectively. Shiba Inu, which traded at $0.00 throughout the period, recorded a 1.43% increase.

The market capitalisation of the top ten cryptocurrencies combined reached approximately $2.02 trillion, with Bitcoin accounting for 65.5% of the total. Trading volumes across the sector remained elevated, with Bitcoin’s 24-hour volume exceeding $69.8 billion and Ethereum’s surpassing $40.7 billion.

No major assets recorded declines during the period, with all listed cryptocurrencies ending higher. The absence of downward pressure on prices underscored a resilient market environment, though XRP’s performance highlighted divergent dynamics among key assets.
