Israel’s Bank Leumi has announced a partnership with Galaxy Digital to launch cryptocurrency trading services for its customers, with the initiative expected to begin in early 2027. The collaboration would position Leumi as the first Israeli bank to provide direct access to trading Bitcoin, Ether, and Solana through its investment platform, leveraging GalaxyOne Institutional for trading and Galaxy’s custody infrastructure for digital asset support.
The partnership follows Galaxy Digital’s listing on Nasdaq under the ticker GLXY in May 2025, marking a significant step in the firm’s expansion into institutional financial services. Bank Leumi’s mobile banking arm, Pepper, will integrate the offering, allowing customers to manage digital assets through the bank’s existing investment ecosystem.
Galaxy Digital’s digital assets business reported a 34% quarterly increase in adjusted gross profit, reaching $66 million, despite a $85 million net loss in the second quarter of an unspecified year. The firm’s shares traded at $21.38 on Friday, reflecting a 2% daily rise but a 25% decline over the past year, according to Yahoo Finance.
The move underscores growing institutional interest in cryptocurrency, with traditional financial institutions increasingly seeking to incorporate digital assets into their services. Galaxy Digital, led by founder Mike Novogratz, has positioned itself as a key player in bridging the gap between traditional banking and crypto markets.
The partnership is expected to accelerate adoption of cryptocurrency in Israel, where regulatory frameworks for digital assets have been evolving. However, the timeline for the service’s launch remains subject to final regulatory approvals and technical implementation.
