Market Close: Crypto Market Falls as Cardano Drops 1.4%

The cryptocurrency market closed lower on Friday, with 10 assets declining and none rising, as broader weakness dragged on investor sentiment. Bitcoin and Ethereum extended earlier declines, while Chainlink showed relative resilience amid the downturn.

Bitcoin fell 0.62% to $63,370, maintaining its position as the largest market cap asset, while Ethereum dropped 0.73% to $1,878.81. Both cryptocurrencies saw reduced trading volumes compared to the prior day, with Bitcoin’s 24-hour turnover slipping to $18.14 billion and Ethereum’s trading volume declining to $6.87 billion. The broader market followed suit, with XRP, BNB, and SOL all recording modest losses of between 0.7% and 0.9%.

Cardano emerged as the worst performer, falling 1.4% to $0.18, despite unchanged prices from the previous day. The decline followed a broader trend of underperformance among mid-cap assets, with TRON and Shiba Inu also losing ground. Solana’s 0.89% drop and Dogecoin’s 0.98% decline underscored the sector’s lack of directional clarity.

Chainlink was the sole standout, falling just 0.39% to $8.72, marking the least severe decline among major assets. Its relative stability contrasted with the broader market’s struggles, though its movement remained within the range of modest corrections.

The market’s subdued activity reflected a lack of significant catalysts, with trading volumes across most assets remaining below levels seen earlier in the week. Market capitalisation for the top 10 assets stood at approximately $478 billion, with Bitcoin and Ethereum collectively accounting for over 70% of the total.

As the week closes, the crypto market remains in a state of cautious consolidation, with no clear signs of renewed momentum. Investors await further developments to determine whether the current trend will persist or give way to renewed activity.
