Metaplanet Launches “BitBonds” Continuous Bond Program

Japanese bitcoin treasury company Metaplanet has unveiled a continuous bond issuance program called “BitBonds,” completing its first sale with four privately placed series worth approximately 200 million yen ($1.3 million). The unsecured senior bonds mature in roughly three years and carry annual interest rates of 4% to 4.3%. Metaplanet announced the issuance began in late July and closed on August 13.

The initial offering represents a significant milestone for Metaplanet Securities, its wholly owned subsidiary responsible for issuing these securities. The company has emphasized that the bonds are unsecured senior issues based on its creditworthiness, with interest and principal repayment scheduled according to established terms.

Future issuance of “BitBonds” will depend on funding needs, market conditions, and investor demand, indicating a dynamic approach to financial management that could potentially be influenced by external factors.
