Goldman Sachs Acquires NEOS Investments in $2.25 Billion Deal

Goldman Sachs has acquired NEOS Investments in a significant cash and equity transaction valued up to $2.25 billion, including the bitcoin synthetic ETF (ETF) BTCI launched in October 2024 by NEOS Investments. According to Bloomberg’s senior ETF analyst Eric Balchunas, BTCI holds spot bitcoin exchange-traded products (ETPs) and sells call options against those positions to generate monthly distributions. Investors receive the yield from the product but forfeit some of the upside when Bitcoin rallies.

The acquisition deal includes performance targets and is subject to regulatory approval, expected to close during the first quarter of 2027.
