Market Close: Mixed Performance as Chainlink Leads Gainers, Shiba Inu Drops
The cryptocurrency market ended the trading session with a mixed performance, as four assets rose while six declined. Chainlink emerged as the top performer, surging 1.96%, while Shiba Inu fell 1.54%, marking the largest loss among major coins. Bitcoin and Ethereum, the dominant market indicators, closed slightly lower, with Bitcoin down 0.55% and Ethereum falling 0.31%.
Bitcoin’s price dipped to $63,543.44 from $63,897.59, reflecting a modest decline amid subdued trading activity. Ethereum’s value retreated to $1,864.82 from $1,870.53, with its market capitalisation stabilising at $225.05 billion. Both assets saw reduced trading volumes compared to the previous day, with Bitcoin’s 24-hour turnover dropping to $22.28 billion and Ethereum’s trading volume at $7.85 billion.
Chainlink’s rally to $8.58, up 1.96%, outpaced other gains, with its market cap reaching $6.42 billion. The token’s rise followed a broader trend of slight optimism among smart contract protocols, though no significant catalysts were reported. Conversely, Shiba Inu’s price remained at $0.00, with its market cap shrinking to $2.62 billion. The coin’s decline, despite a zero price, highlighted volatility in smaller-cap assets.
Among other notable movements, BNB rose 1.62% to $609.26, while DOGE and TRX edged higher by 0.99% and 1.01%, respectively. Solana and Cardano recorded modest declines of 1.20% and 1.02%, with XRP remaining flat at $1.01. The overall market capitalisation stood at $1.28 trillion, with trading volumes across major assets showing a slight contraction compared to the prior session.
The session’s mixed results underscored the sector’s ongoing consolidation, with institutional activity and macroeconomic factors remaining absent from public discourse. Key players like Chainlink and Shiba Inu continued to drive sentiment, though broader market dynamics remained subdued.
