Yellow Card Raises $40 Million to Expand Stablecoin Infrastructure

Investment round boosts total equity financing to over $120 million as firm seeks to disrupt traditional payment systems.

Yellow Card, a U.S.-based stablecoin payment infrastructure provider, has secured $40 million in strategic equity funding. The investment was spearheaded by SC Ventures, Sony Innovation Fund, Polychain Capital and Blockchain Capital. This brings the total equity financing for the company to more than $120 million.

Chris Maurice, CEO of Yellow Card, co-founded the firm and is currently engaged with commercial banks across the globe. He believes the near future will see on-chain payments directly between institutions, removing intermediaries. The aim is to utilize stablecoins to inject greater volumes of US dollars into international markets while simultaneously replacing established payment methodologies.

The funding round builds upon previous financing, with one source reportedly citing a valuation of $200 million and another suggesting potential for a $1 billion valuation in the longer term. This latest injection of capital signifies confidence in Yellow Card’s vision.

The company is focused on developing infrastructure to facilitate these transactions. It remains to be seen how widely adopted this approach will become, and how quickly the firm can achieve its ambitious goals alongside existing industry players.

Ultimately, the substantial funding underscores the perceived opportunity within stablecoin technology and its potential to reshape global financial flows.
