Grayscale Launches First ETF for Privacy-Focused Zcash Cryptocurrency

Grayscale has launched the first exchange-traded fund offering direct exposure to Zcash, a privacy-focused cryptocurrency, under the ticker symbol ZCSH on NYSE Arca. The ETF, a conversion of Grayscale’s Zcash Trust, includes a 2.5% fee that directs revenue back to the Zcash ecosystem.

The move follows a surge in Zcash’s value, which rose 45% over recent days, according to price data from The Block. Grayscale’s Head of Index, Steve Vanourny, linked the growing demand for privacy to advancements in artificial intelligence, stating that “as AI reshapes how financial activity can be monitored, demand for genuine financial privacy will only grow.”

Zcash’s value increase preceded Grayscale’s submission of a fifth amended registration statement, though exact dates for key events remain unspecified. The Zcash Trust had $313.5 million in assets under management as of Monday, reflecting sustained investor interest.

Grayscale’s subsidiary is reportedly considering acquiring 200,000 ZEC through the trust, though no formal decision has been confirmed. Vanourny added that the ETF “makes Zcash’s token accessible through a structure investors already know,” highlighting the firm’s focus on familiar investment vehicles.
