Bridge Building Joins EU’s MiCA Register After Luxembourg Regulatory Approval

Bridge Building, a Luxembourg-based entity linked to Stripe-owned stablecoin infrastructure firm Bridge, has been added to the European Union’s Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA) register following approval by Luxembourg’s financial regulator. The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) updated its MiCA register on Wednesday, increasing the number of authorised electronic money token (EMT) issuers in the EU to 42. The update also added three new Crypto-Asset Service Provider (CASP) entries from German banks, raising the total number of authorised CASPs in the EU to 324.

The regulatory approvals, secured by Bridge Building on 2 July, include a MiCA CASP authorisation and an electronic money institution (EMI) licence from Luxembourg’s Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier. Mai Leduc Blount, head of product at Bridge, said the approvals enable EU businesses to develop stablecoin and payment products under a regulated framework. The ESMA update did not report changes to asset-referenced token authorizations or non-compliant crypto-asset companies.

German banks Volksbank Die Gestalterbank, VBU Volksbank im Unterland, and VR-Bank Erding were added as new CASP entries. The exact date of ESMA’s register update remains unspecified, with no further details provided on the status of other authorizations.
