Senate Faces Short Deadline Before Year’s End for Voting on CLARITY Act

US Senate faces a tight 36-day session window before elections begin, leaving little time to pass the CLARITY Act. The bill aims to clarify market structure for digital assets and includes controversial provisions such as ethics language regarding President Donald Trump’s ties to cryptocurrencies and additional restrictions on stablecoin rewards.

Despite initial optimism from some industry advocates, significant legislative hurdles remain. Many issues are still under negotiation and unresolved. The bill’s passage hinges on securing final agreement on its contentious provisions before the end of the current session in December.

Senator John Thune, Majority Leader in Senate, acknowledges the challenge but remains optimistic that a resolution can be reached within the remaining time. Meanwhile, SEC Chair Paul Atkins and CFTC Chair Michael Selig have emphasized the importance of swift action to avoid any potential regulatory void.

The clock is ticking as Congress must act before December 1st or face another post-election recess. The outcome could set crucial precedents for future crypto regulation in the United States.
