Bitcoin.com Integrates UAE-Registered Stablecoin USDU into Wallet

Bitcoin.com has expanded its offerings by integrating USDU, a US dollar-backed stablecoin registered with the UAE’s Central Bank, into its self-custodial wallet. The move allows users to hold, send, and receive USDU, with further features such as swap and buy/sell functionality expected in the future.

USDU, issued by Universal Digital, is the first and only Foreign Payment Token registered under the UAE’s Payment Token Services Regulation. The stablecoin operates on the Ethereum blockchain and is fully collateralised by US dollars, complying with regulatory requirements set by the UAE’s Central Bank and Abu Dhabi Global Market’s Financial Services Regulatory Authority.

The integration follows USDU’s launch in January and its adoption by institutional clients through Zodia Custody, which added support for the token in July. Uniswap also introduced a liquidity pool for USDU in August, reflecting growing market interest in the stablecoin.

Regulatory frameworks in the UAE mandate that digital asset payments be conducted in fiat currency or registered Foreign Payment Tokens, a requirement USDU now satisfies. However, availability of USDU services may vary by jurisdiction, and full functionality for users remains pending implementation.
